Frequently Asked

How much does EV charger installation cost in Vancouver?

A confirmed EV-ready rough-in connection is $450. Standard installations include $250 labour, a $100 40A two-pole breaker, and cable at $34 per foot using 5, 10, 20, or 30 ft choices. A charger is $1,000 and an electrical permit is $400 when included. Exterior routing adds $200, concrete or masonry drilling adds $125, and underground trenching and wiring is $1,500–$5,000. Confirmed EV-ready connections do not include standard cable, routing, drilling, breaker, or panel-capacity charges.

Do I need strata approval for EV charging in my Vancouver condo?

Yes — BC's Strata Property Act gives owners the right to install EV charging, but strata approval is still required. The strata may specify approved installers, equipment, and cost-sharing arrangements for common-area infrastructure.

Do I need a permit for EV charger installation in Vancouver?

Yes — EV charger installation generally requires an electrical permit and inspection. Confirm the applicable process with your local municipality and Technical Safety BC; for Vancouver addresses, the City of Vancouver administers many electrical permits. The work must be done by a licensed electrician.

Do you install Tesla Wall Connectors?

Yes. A Tesla Wall Connector is a hardwired Level 2 charger, so standard installation pricing applies.

How much does it cost to install a Tesla Wall Connector?

Standard hardwired installation labour is $250, plus a $100 breaker and the selected cable length at $34 per foot. A confirmed EV-ready rough-in connection is $450 instead of those standard-install components. Charger supply, permit, routing, drilling, and applicable panel work are added based on the selected scope.

How much does a 240V / NEMA 14-50 outlet cost?

Standard NEMA 14-50 and hardwired installation labour are both $250. The standard path also includes a $100 breaker and cable at $34 per foot using the selected 5, 10, 20, or 30 ft length.

Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?

The calculator evaluates panel capacity only for standard or uncertain rough-in paths. Depending on the home, the estimate may include a $1,500 EV load-management device, a $1,000 subpanel, or a $6,000–$9,800 service upgrade. Capacity questions and charges do not apply when an EV-ready rough-in is confirmed.

Can I install a Level 3 (DC fast) charger at home?

Level 3 charging is not practical for residential use. Level 2 is the standard for homes, and RenoFiz does not offer Level 3 installation.
